ITINERARY FOR KELLY CLAN GATHERING TOUR ON SATURDAY 20TH MAY 2017
12 noon Depart Armada Hotel, Spanish Point – 2 x 35 seater coaches
Travel to the Burren Centre, Kilfenora for lunch
Route via Lahinch, Ennistymon , with Joe A and Tom as tour guides
Stop at Burren Visitor Centre, Kilfenora for approximately 2 hours.
This stop will allow guests to view the Burren audio visual display. This is a comprehensive film by world renowned environmentalist and much admired film producer, Éamon de Buitléar. The film traces the story of the formation of the Burren 320 million years ago and how the limestone pavement was formed, and why Alpine, Arctic and Mediterranean plants which require different climatic conditions grow side by side in such abundance on the fertile rock.
There will also be an opportunity for purchasing goods in the tourist shop.
Visit the ancient Cathedral adjoining the centre. The Cathedral was dedicated to St Fachtnan and built in about 1189 on the site of an early monastery. Dr Joe will be giving a short talk on this
Leave visitor centre at approx. 3pm
Stop at Cahermacnaghten stone fort, home of the Davoren Law School in the 1500’s. There is a Davoren connection with Kellys
Route continues through Lisdoonvarna, past Cliffs of Moher to Liscannor where there will be a stop off at the J P Holland Centre for approx. 30 minutes
Arrive Armada Hotel approximately 5pm
